My grandad died today. Papa Hugh, my dad's dad and my last remaining grandparent. I can't imagine what my dad must be going through, having had his father just die. Probably because i can't imagine my father dying and how deeply hurt and sad i would be. Not sad as in upset, but sad as in missing him and living with the knowledge that i'd never get to see him in this life ever again. It's got to be rough. It's not something that we experience in life very often, as we all only have our fathers die once in our lives. No matter if we're 16 or 60 you only go through it once. So in knowing that Papa Hugh went to be with the Lord (just imagine...that happened to him TODAY...blows my mind), my thoughts are really with my own father who i know is deeply effected.

I'll miss my grandfather. We weren't especially close, but i do have some fond memories of times that we spent together. The legacy that this man left far outshines even the cumulative other accomplishments and important meanings and effects of his life. I only hope that one day that can be said about me. No matter what i do or who i become, i would like the legacy that i started in my life to reach further than my one life ever could have reached on it's own. That really is true greatness.
